Charlie Sheen has been getting epic amounts of media attention recently. The public gained direct access to him when he joined Twitter, but now they can make even more intimate contact. A.J. Daulerio at Gawker sports blog Deadspin posted the controversial celebrity’s 310-area-code cell phone number this afternoon, writing, “Let’s Stage A Citizen’s Intervention. Here’s Charlie Sheen’s Phone Number.”

I tried the number 15 minutes after it was posted, and was told that the mailbox was already full. I imagine the calls and text messages won’t stop anytime soon.

Charlie, despite your bizarre ways, I am sympathetic.  I once had a law student angry about an article I’d written about him post my photo and number in a Craigslist “Casual Encounters” ad; my Blackberry reverse cell phone lookup was unusable for a couple of hours as I spent that Sunday afternoon turning away a series of disappointed callers.
